Staffing solutions are fundamental building blocks for success. If you don’t have the right people and a solid plan for execution, it doesn’t matter how great your idea or strategy may be. From brand image and natural skill to key messaging and market planning, every company has a varying needs and expectations from those who work for them and/or represent them in field.

Whether you are looking to hire someone full-time or liaising with a temporary staffing agency, there are a few key factors you should always keep in mind.

PASSION :: for more than 10 years, Tigris has made it common practice to hire for enthusiasm and passion over skill and experience. Of course, in promotions, for the most part, the work can be easily picked up and while most skills are teachable, passion typically… is not. You have it, or you don’t. Unfortunately passion and drive are two of the most commonly overlooked qualities during the search and interview process since most companies rely on task and experience job descriptions to hire candidates.

So how would we define this?

Well, by passion we mean the feelings that move us to behave or act in specific ways. At Tigris, we look for individuals who love to help others and to be valued for the quality of his / her work. We look for people who like to feel like they are “in the groove” and like to move at a fast pace as is the nature of the industry.

SKILL :: beyond passion, it is also important to identify natural skill. Clearly in the event marketing industry when you are looking to source staffing solutions of all kinds, the skill we would be looking for is very different from a trade or other career requiring special training. When we look at the skills of those we hire, we like to keep track of everything from languages and athletics to dancing, singing and smart serve (to name a few). Anything that makes someone staff out among their peers is helpful to identify… you just never know when you may get a request for a flying trapeze artist or a euchre dealer!

EXPERIENCE :: truth be told, promotions are not rocket science but experience does help. Events staff are constantly working with new brands and walking into a wide range of environments and locations… with that being said, having had some industry experience does help with adaptability and versatility to roll with the situations that can arise at events. Experience also helps with engaging the public naturally, the ability to master information about a brand quickly and concisely along with managing procedural expectations pertaining to checking in, photos, feedback etc.

All of these basic fundamentals consider, when you’re planning on booking a team for an event marketing campaign getting to know the talent on your roster is essential. How you would plan and manage a bar promotion for an alcohol beverage would of course be very different from a family-friendly consumer packaged goods product or an all natural health food.

With this understanding in mind, Tigris was eager to team up with Taste of Nature to plan, manage and staff a series of summer sampling events to promote their Taste of Nature fruit and nut bars at Fresh Wednesday’s Jul. 9-Aug. 27 AND for Taste of Toronto Jul. 24-27. As part of the planning, Tigris hand selected a team of youthful, fresh faced female events staff who would best capture the image of the wholesome brand while also articulating specific messaging about the nutritional value of the bars. Tigris is also taking care of setting up and tearing down the events week to week to offer Shandiz smooth and seamless staffing solutions.
