Event Plans a Piece of CHIN History

The event plans for Miss & Mr. CHIN Bikini 2010 was another smashing success!  The winner of this year’s Miss CHIN, Celine LaFlamme graced the cover of the Toronto Sun and the competition landed a 2 page spread in the national mag.

Taking place on the Jul. 3 & 4th weekend, the show opened with a fitting World Cup soccer theme complete with an astro turf field, soccer nets, flags, scarves, a replica World Cup, a referee and 2 freestyle soccer pro’s.  The contestants changed into Rockstar sponsored suits for the bikini segment and rocked the stage with funky beats and threw plush soccer balls out to an ecstatic crowd.

event rentals for the annual show production kicks off in February for 3 months of recruiting, followed by interviews to screen all of the contestants. Only 20 men and 20 women are selected to compete in the show, now in it’s 44th year and the highlight of the CHIN Picnic. Participants are required to attend pre-promotional events such as a media launch party, photo shoots for online voting, Taste of Little Italy, 2 rehearsals – and of course the shows themselves.

The winners of this years show will bring home an impressive prize pack include a flat screen TV, DVD player, sound system as well as a custom website, jewellery, gift certificates to various restaurants & salons and a promotional modeling contract with Tigris Personnel. Those who don’t place also receive a gift bag with supplements, discounts in aesthetics and a CHIN t-shirt. The winners who take the title also participate in community events throughout the year and are exposed to countless opportunities from various channels.

Serena Holmes (formerly Schwab) is the President & CEO of Tigris Incorporated. She is a Broadcast Journalism graduate from Ryerson University. She began working in events in 2000 and started with Tigris as an events staff in 2004, was promoted to management and later accepted partnership. Serena took over operations of the company in 2008.
