There is no denying that what we see affects how we feel and the way we react. Unlike some other forms of advertising, event décor works as a powerful stimulant to influence consumers. And when it comes to quick, clear communication, visuals trump text almost every time. When exposed to interesting imagery, we can’t help view and analyze it – consciously or otherwise. The influence of aesthetics is undeniable and in many cases, inescapable.
So what are some types of event decor you can take advantage of to create this type of lasting impact?
CUSTOM EVENT DECOR: what can you create that you can’t buy off the shelf? There are a select group of companies such as “Fresh, Never Frozen” or our partners at Midfield Interactive who specialize in custom builds. This could range from a unique photo booth activation, larger than life-size props such as a huge name-brand razor or giant perfume bottle or even a billboard that dispenses product or coupons. You want to do something that has never been done before to capture the attention of your guests or consumers in a way that the traditional “been there/done that” event decor doesn’t lend itself to.
FIRE AND ICE: think candles and ice sculptures. Both add an interesting element to any event. You could serve a drink or you could chill it by pouring it through a branded ice sculpture. You could order floral centerpieces or you can flash freeze fresh flowers in ice so they appear to be floating in mid-air, enhanced by a circle of candle light. Which event decor option would have more impact for your guests?
LIGHTING: nothing can influence event decor so simply – or so dramatically as great lighting. This adds mystery and drama to any room and can truly transform a traditional space into something extraordinary. You can incorporate up-lighting, textured lighting on the ceiling and strobe lighting – to name a few things
Aside from spicing up a space, businesses rely on event décor to communicate their brand effectively. While yes, it should lend itself naturally to the brand’s image, it should also encourage consumer interaction and engagement. Shock and awe with extraordinary event decor. You could have an event that becomes a memory or an event that people talk about for years to come!
Wondering what event decor at it’s best looks like?
If you were around the Toronto Eaton Centre this past weekend, you may have noticed something a little out of the ordinary. Perhaps a log cabin in Trinity Park, just outside of Sears on the west side. And not just any log cabin, SANTA’s log cabin! Wouldn’t you agree that this is alot more exciting than the traditional Santa’s throne stationed in a mall food court?
If you weren’t at the Eaton Centre Nov. 29-Dec. 1, don’t dismay; Santa will be onsite at his log cabin throughout the entire month and our team is helping escort families in to see him personally. For the second time this year, Tigris is teaming up with TCP Integrated Marketing to execute an experiential promotion at Toronto’s biggest shopping hub.
Two of our dynamic events staff partnered up this past Fri., Nov. 29 and will be again, this upcoming Fri., Dec. 6 to offer a special personal concierge touch to the activation. Needless to say, parents and children alike were delighted at the impressive event decor of the realistic log cabin, both outside and in.
The log cabin, built by Timber Block is complete with a log burning fire, hot chocolate and treats. Now that is some seriously outstanding event décor! In addition to the structure itself, the cabin also offers children a sneak peak of ETC’s latest and greatest toys, the chance to listen in on some Christmas story-book classics along with the souvenir photo takeaway.
Santa will be at his log cabin every Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 30 through to Dec. 23.
This is just one example of how outside-the-box event decor can have such a timely – and tremendous – impact. The possibilities and ideas are truly endless!
