Hudson’s Bay Company hosted a ‘Boost Your Health’ event Jan. 14th. Multiple vendors activated during the day around this theme. Our Athletic Events staff worked alongside our client from Under Armour to host a cycling challenge.
Are you familiar with spinning? Indoor cycling (aka βspinningβ) is a cardiovascular, stationary workout. It’s extremely intense, which is why we limited this challenge to 30 seconds. At the activation, a branded metal cube installation contained 2 spinning bikes. Participants had 30 seconds to burn as many calories as possible. For every calorie burned, participants received 1 ballot entry to win one of two Under Armour prize packs. What was in the prize pack? A complete Under Armour outfit, including the shoes! In addition, all participants were to receive a 20% off coupon redeemable day-of in store.
Athletic Events Staff Drive Brand Awareness
The objective of the event was to drive brand awareness and capture lead generation. Our brand ambassadors were to engage shoppers to participate, take photos and assist with waiver release forms. The team was to wear an active Under Armour outfit. Within the spinning area, one of our brand ambassadors (who is actually a spin instructor!) guided participants. After all the calories were burned, participants were able to shop at a discounted price.
This event was extremely active and left a lasting impression on consumers. The interactive component, in addition to the coupons, left many with a huge smile on their faces. The challenge also become a bit competitive to see who could burn the most calories! Because it is a challenging task, the highest amount of calories burned in 30 seconds was 12.5 calories. The average was around 8 calories. It might not sound like a lot of calories, but trust us, it’s hard work! Many participants found themselves guzzling water after spinning.
