Summer’s Over, But There’s Still Time for Outdoor Marketing Promotions!

Despite the change of seasons, outdoor marketing promotions are extremely popular all year round!

There are multiple reasons why outdoor marketing promotions are beneficial and productive. The planning process  may run more smoothly than an event held in an area where a permit is required. Street promotions are versatile and they limit the amount of parties you must interact with to plan your promotion. With outdoor marketing promotions, the brand can simply work with a staffing and/or event agency without negotiating with a third party. Also, one is not subject to as many rules or requirements as they would be if confined to a specific space or area.

For example, if you wanted to run an indoor marketing promotional in a mall, there are many rules and requirements one must follow. Your campaign must be a certain amount of space away from some stores (namely competitors), and you cannot infringe on the customers and space of other stores. When taking promotional photos, you cannot have any other brand names present in the photos. It is also extremely expensive to obtain permits in specific malls, with prices ranging from a couple thousands to twenty thousand dollars for one week! You are also restricted to one week when you may only need/want a couple of days.

With outdoor marketing promotions, you can play by your rules in most cases. You are not subject to start your outdoor marketing promotion around specific predetermined hours. You can start your promotion anytime you want, and run it for as long as you want! This type of promotion also allows you to reach a larger demographic because you can interact with thousands of people on a busy street throughout the day.

Although the summer heat has passed, outdoor marketing promotions are more popular than ever. Companies are sensitive to seasonal changes and will layer up their promotional models and brand ambassadors with long sleeves, jackets, toques and other outdoor gear required to stay warm while temperatures drop.

Canadian’s are known for their passion for hockey, and this passion was shown throughout Toronto on Oct. 8th for the Toronto Maple Leaf Home Opener. Celebrations took place in Maple Leaf Square and Yonge-Dundas Square for the NHL Face-Off and Viewing Party. Tigris worked with one of our most reputable clients to provide an outdoor marketing promotion for their brand.

Our brand ambassadors were distributed promotional swag to eager fans and engaged them with a fun, interactive photo booth activation with a larger than life sized hockey card. Although our staff were dressed in red and white long sleeve jerseys, the temperature was quite low that night and it did get chilly! Our staff was prepared with layers of clothing under the branded jerseys and also came prepared with mittens. The weather sure didn’t effect this promotion!

Tigris also teamed up with eOne films to execute an outdoor promotion in Calgary and Vancouver to promote the new film, The Best of Me on Oct. 9. This romance film is based off a Nicholas Spark’s novel, and we all know that man knows how to create a tear jerker! For this outdoor marketing campaign, brand ambassadors were required to hand out branded tissues to the target demographic of the film. Upon distribution of the branded tissues, our brand ambassadors would inform the women about the movie and encourage them to see it with their girlfriends or make a date night out of it.

In each city, our events staff handed out 2,500 branded tissues and spoke with thousands of people! In Vancouver, the outdoor marketing promotion took place around a popular university campus, and in Calgary the promotion ran throughout 4th Street Shopping, one of Calgary’s busiest shopping districts. The Best of Me is in theaters Oct. 17th – if you didn’t grab any branded tissues, be sure to bring some of your own!

Want someone to take your chores off your hands? Our fresh faced brand ambassadors will be promoting a cleaning service by the brand “Chores” around the streets of Yorkville, Toronto. Our events staff will be wearing branded “Chores” t-shirts paired with dark denim jeans. Due to the chilly Thanksgiving weather, our staff made sure to wear a plain black long sleeve shirt under the branded t-shirt. The promotion takes place from 12-5pm as our staff handed out promotional flyers and related the brands message to those doing their weekend shopping.

There’s still plenty of time before it snows to execute your own outdoor marketing promotion! Actually, we can think of some fun promotions that could even take place in the snow!
